Move

Moves objects from one specified location to another.

Steps:

  1. Select

    objects.

  2. Pick

    a point to move from.

  3. Pick a point to move to.

Options

Vertical

Moves or copies the object vertical to the current construction plane.

Other ways of moving objects

Drag

Select and drag objects, including control points.

Nudge

To move objects small amounts

  • Hold the Alt

key and press an ARROW key to move objects in the world x-, y-directions.

  • Hold the Alt

key and press the PAGEUP/PAGEDOWN keys to move objects in the world z-direction.

Set the distance that the objects move with nudge keys alone, with Ctrl

+Nudge key and with Shift

+Nudge key in the Options dialog box, Modeling Aids Nudge
page.

SetPt

Moves objects (especially points and control points) to a specified location in the x-, y-, and/or z-directions.

This command is often used to accurately change the position of objects.

The SetPt command is a fast way to be sure that a set of planar curves are all in the same plane.

Steps:

  1. Select

    objects.

  2. In the Set Points dialog box, click the checkboxes for the coordinates.

  3. Pick a location to match.

  4. The selected objects will line up with the set point in the direction or directions you chose.

Options

Set X/Set Y/Set Z

Align objects in the x, y, and z-directions.

SoftMove

Moves objects relative to a center of move with a falloff curve.

Allows smooth editing of dense points. The command works on all objects, but is most useful for control points or mesh points.

The SoftMove command works on selected objects. To work on all points in a curve or surface that fall within a given distance from the edit point use the SoftEditCrv
and SoftEditSrf
commands

Steps:

  1. Select

    objects.

  2. Pick

the point to move from or click an object type option.

  3. Pick the radius of influence.

  4. Pick the offset.

  5. Press Enter

to end the command or select an option.

Object Type Options

Points

Select point objects as bases for the move. The falloff curve is based on each selected point and acts through a sphere of radius set by the user.

Curves

Select curves as bases for the falloff curve. The falloff is applied radially along the curve creating a tube-shaped volume where the move is active.

Surfaces

Select surfaces to radiate the falloff curve and influence the move. The falloff curve is active across a volume normal to the surface over the set radius.

Options

Falloff

Changes the falloff curve shape.

Radius

Drag the outer circle to change the sphere of influence (fall-off or inner circle will drag proportionally).

Offset

Changes the move to location.

Anchor

Changes the base from point.
